Default Using stock speaker wiring for wiring aftermarket speakers/deck?

Hi guys,

Quick question. Would using the stock speaker wiring cause a reduction in sound quality for wiring an aftermarket set of speakers and a deck?

I'm trying to avoid running all new wiring to the doors and the back speaker deck. I'm using just a standard alpine head unit and two sets of 6.5" alpine type s's. I was thinking that I would just splice into the wires that are already there.

Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Patrick

Stock should work fine as long as you are not running extremely high quality components.

Stock wiring is fine if you're using like $80-150 a pair speakers from future shop or best buy etc. If you're using an aftermarket 4channel/2 channel amp then you definatley want to upgrade the wiring. New wire would probably give you a little better sound quality but it's a lot of extra work.

You will be just fine.

It has been said that stock wires fine for under 100 watts.

I ran all new wiring to my speakers, not a huge pain, but quite time consuming. It took me the better part of the afternoon/night to it. I'd say 8-9 hours for front/rear start to finish. That was me being slow, and having to re-wire the stupid deck harness.

Unless you are driving the speakers with 50W RMS or more, no matter what speakers you have, the stock wiring will be fine. 94
