Why not research before posting? I typed, "SRT4 1/4 mile times" and discovered numerous sites revealing information and videos - they were in the 13.8 range and slower. I typed in the equivalent for a Cobalt SS and found one video of a stock 13.66 run. I have no idea if they were completely stock or not, though the OP states such. I have first hand seen a bone stock B18C(R) in an EF - even a factory air box - run a 13.8 on street tires (P28 tuned however). That being said, with a B18C(5/R), you will be fairly even. The other two cars have a distinct advantage with boosted applications vs. an N/A build. If you plan to stay N/A, I recommend the B18C(5/R) route. If you plan to turbo relatively soon, I would recommend a B18C(1) with slightly lower compression. I did a lot of research on this several years ago when I was planning to build an EG with a turbo GSR (stock internals). You can reliably, safely, and even with longevity, pull 285-350 WHP with stock GSR internals. I recommend you start doing some research and cost analysis.
you dont want to boost a B18C5. it runs better all motor.
if you want to boost, get a B18C1 or a B16A2... if youre on a budget, you could boost a single cam for under a G and still smoke those silly cars you mentioned.

B18C5 in a EF hatch with a intake, header and exhaust will walk a Colbalt SS and SRT4.
Sit in a SRT4 or Colbalt SS and you will wanna so get back in to your 89 Civic. Yuck i cant stand those **** boxes. Only good about the SS is the power thats it.
I slapped a ITR into a 89 CRX with a intake and header and exhaust and a reflash and we ran low 13's to high 12's on street tires.

I have a type R swap in a CRX and beating a Cobalt is easy. The SRT4's if they have any mods at all will still wax your ***.
Ask me how I know.

not going to happen. maybe with the SS but not the SRT4. there is a guy around here with a stock turbo srt4 with exhaust, intake, front mount, and a boost controller that ran a 12.9 on street tires. i had one that put down 363whp and i wish a na b18c5 would have tried me. lol. the only way he will beat one is if he found a stock one and since the last one was made in 05 good luck with that. you might laugh because they are neons but they make stupid easy power for cheap. dont sleep on them.
