Default Civic si sedan what do I need to know?

I'm looking at purchasing a 8th or 9th gen civic si sedan this spring. Is there any issues I should be aware of with this car before I make my purchase? I'm looking and doing test drives now.

If your looking for an 8th gen NEW than buy quickly. The 9th gen comes out soon. I guess it all depends on your location, but up here in New England the 8th brand new is harder and harder to find.

The 9th will be more or less totally re-designed and imo is ugly. sure it boasts a 60% torque increase over the 8th but the look of the car is not my cup of tea. As far as issues go mechanically i'm un-aware of any with the most recent 8th gens. But again with the 9th gen everything is re-tooled so issues will arise as they usually do.

I just picked up a slightly used 2010 8th myself and i love it..

Good luck.

whoa i think 60% torque increase is exaggerated, i belive its from 140 to 170 thats not 60% if im not mistaken lol maybe like 10-15%?

I misread the article totally!!

Yeah sorry 170ft lbs of torque is correct, NOT a 60% increase...

Either way the 8th vs 9th will look and feel completely different.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards a used 8th gen si sedan. I've been finding a good selection for around 15-20k

Third gear issue shouldn't affect 09+. If you look at 07's definitely make sure its fine or under warranty, I bought mine in december and it had the issue, my dealer replaced the 3rd gear set for me after I brought it up and its been perfect. Read the TSB in the sticky at the top of the board if you want more details

My 2nd gear is EXTREMELY "notchy" in 2nd gear, and will oftentimes grind.

09 w/ 16k miles.

Lovely.
