Default Need Advice Building a Daily Driver All-Motor car

Hey whats up H-T, I currently have a 94 GSR with a JDM 97 spec ITR motor and I want to Daily Drive and build the motor at the same time while keeping a stock idle...

I am planning on buying Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams, valve springs, retainers, cam gears, and I want opinions on what else I should get....

I also already have an SX Fuel press regulator and planning on upgrading fuel pump, have JDM ITR Cat, JDM ITR 2.5 inch b-pipe, Spoon N1 exhaust, Spoon thin head gasket, Skunk 2 fuel rail

Need Advice of What I should get and what I may need: (Want to keep it a Daily Driver)

What Pistons? Or should I keep my stock ITR pistons?
ARP head studs necessary?
Whats a good throttle body to get? Also what size or should i just port my stock ITR TB?
What brand intake manifold or should i also port that?
JDM 4-1 ITR headers good enough?
What size fuel injectors?
Do i need to sleeve the bottom end or any of that stuff?
Should i port the head?

Also if you have any of these parts brand new or in great condition for sale please let me know. I am in LA, S. California area.

Thanks!!

Not trying to be an ***, but literally everything you are asking is found right there^^. Take your time, and read through it. We used to get threads like yours 10 times a week...you can see where it might get tiresome.

Can you buy a spare block and build it over time and swap in a weekend?

Can you replace pistons/rods in a weekend?

Move along and please refrain from sharing your "advice" with us. Thankyou.

I think to make your car fatser and a daily driver. get a branch with 4-2-1 and a power flow exhaust, get a cone sports filter or drill holes in your standard filter housinging(cheap way) that you have and just change the pan filter in it and upgrade your ECU with a piggy back or software.

I dunno....as long as we all try to do a better job at keeping drama and the bickering aside, and coax the newer members into reading, I'm sure Jimmy and Rochester will do a good job at keeping the forum headed in the right direction. Thanks for the nomination though haha

The real question to you, OP. Is what are your goals with the car? such as power, times, etc...

Alright so here it is... I want to daily drive this car to work, but i dont need it everyday. I will park in a secure garage at work so i think it'll be safe too. I have another car so i can put the time into building the motor. Its actually been in the body shop for a month now.

At first i just bought the type r motor to have something quick and stock, but now i want more power. I got a pretty good offer to buy a K20R so i put my motor up for sale, but no one wanted it even at a good price so now im just considering building my type r all-motor and want to see where should i start....

I know i can find a bunch of stuff on the search box but i do appreciate the direct advice instead of just reading about advice for other people and other situations that arent exactly like mine. Yes im new but thats why im asking cuz i know you guys are the experts

So any advice is greatly appreciated!

oh yea and I dont need to have a super fast car but pretty quick. I was hoping to build it to hit low 13's or maybe even the high 12's on the quarter mile and i want to take it to auto cross. I've been building the suspension so far with Type R Tein Flex, type r rear LCA, Type r rear sway, asr subframe, 5 lug conversion, buddy club lower ball joint, skunk2 front and rear camber, front upper type r strut tower bar, and planning to get energy suspension bushing kit.

Whats your budget? Id just go sleeved, 85mm pistons with a stock crank. Ive seen some sick power out of some with the right combination of parts. 1.8l's just don't do it for me, IMO.

i want to aim for low 13's/high 12's. I just bought Skunk 2 stage 2 cams, cam gears, retainers, valves and springs and will be porting my head soon. i will be picking up a Hondata s300. I was told that it wouldnt make much of a difference if i port my throttle body and intake manifold. Should i just run my stock TB and IM? I am also getting JDM ITR 4-1 headers to keep that stock look.

In a GSR to run high 12's is going to take you at least going 81.5mm.

Pro1's or these killer new cams that just came on the market, i forgot their name....
Good header, and good exhaust. You'll need at least a 3'' exhaust system on your car.JDM ITR 4-1 is NOT a good header. SMSP, bisi, SSR, hytech all good headers.

You'll need a performerX manifold with a 68mm TB. 310cc+ injectors and a custom made intake..

So I'm confused. Is the OP building a b18c1, b18c, or is he buying a k20?

Kind of all over the place. Building the ITR for all motor will be a little easier though for his goals. Especially if he's got the LSD transmission to boot.

He said he wanted to sell the Type-R and buy a K, but decided against it because nobody was biting. So he's going with the Type-R motor.

Ls crank, ls rods, your itr pistons. Some cams/valvesprings to go along with the CR you will have. A good IM and header and tune tune tune. Also 3" exhaust.
GL with the build.
