help please. car is hydro locking itself
hi i have a 2001 civic with the d17a1 247000km, what Ive done to it (chronologically)
cai, full 2.25 exhaust (ex style) with header, fidanza flywheel and exedy clutch, aem pulleys, and most resently d16y8 manifold.
OK so here's what its doing. when i go to start the car it will crank like there's no tomorrow, but after a about a minute, it'll hydro lock it self with gas. the key in the on position the fuel pump will not stop priming and the injectors seem "stuck" wide open. they will fill the cylinders even when the key is just on.
the only tests Ive done so far is a node light in the injector clips and it wont blink. it just stays on. and i have tested the coils (their good) and put in new plugs
for the d16y8 manifold i used all stock parts (fuel rail and injectors, t/b, map sensor)
anyone had this before??
any ideas are appreciated.

Wow, didn't even know you could do that. It sounds like the fuel pressure is overwhelming the injectors or the comp isn't set up for those injectors. See if the 1.7L injectors will work.
Hey Matt, something I'm wondering about, does the ECU control how long the pump primes for, or does it just prime till the pressure in the fuel line is built up to a certain point? If something non-ECU related is causing your injectors to be stuck open for some reason, that could mean your ECU is fine. Didn't you tell me you had to extend a couple wires on your engine harness?
Hey mike.
Ya about two inchs on the tps. But I soldered it and heat shirked them all. So I'm not sure that it would cause anything to happen. And I drove it for 3 days like that with no prob at all. But ya never know.
I'm just wondering if has happened to anyone else.

And arnt the injector completly controld by the ecm? I don't know.
I'm pretty sure that the pump stops priming at a certain pressure being a returnless system kinda makes sence

But if the node light is telling me that the ecm is "telling" them to stay one even when the car isn't running (key just in the on position) wouldn't that rule out fuel pressure cause it can't build any because of the injectors being wide open. It theoretically can't give me a proper reading? I don't know. Just asking. Lol. I still wrote it down on my test to do list
