my car finally hit 200k (woo!) and then the odo stopped working. im guessing its inside the cluster as i still have mph and rpm, as well as cruise control and no code. There is a cable isn't there that drives it though?

 

Try resetting the trip odo...my 95 did that once. Thought I was going to have to pull the cluster but I reset the trip a few times and.....magic.

If the trip meter reset doesn't get the odo working, insert your key into the maintenance reset several times. That will usually get it working again.

 

probably the circuit board behind the speedo went kaput.

The drive circuit recieves inputs from the VSS. Since the Speedometer works I am going to guess the drive circuit is faulty.

 

if the drive circuit is faulty, and i have another speedo (even though its an auto and i have a manual car now) can i swap that part in or is it one big board now? I'd just like to get it back working so i can keep track of MPG, and oil changes. I tried the trip reset.. didn't work, i'll try the key thing too.

 

key trick didn't work either.. so im guessing the circuit is bad. what do i have to do to fix this?

 

If it's electrical the most practical thing is to replace the speedo head unit.

My odometer quit. I mashed the hell out of the trip button. I must have hit it 20 times. I could see the odometer numbers twitch a bit. The odometer works now.

 

lol okay i'll try that.. i can see the "trip" one move.. but no movement down under it. its stuck between 2 numbers too and its driving me nuts haha.
