I am going through this right now on my build, I'm ordering a magnaflow 2.25 universal and me and my buddy are welding it in. good brand, good price only 80-90 bucks. should work awsome and way cheaper that OEM.

I would recommend you buy a Vibrant catalytic converter and have a reputable muffler shop/mechanic weld it in for you. Vibrant is an excellent company, they really make high quality components.

I don't know what diameter exhaust you have, but pick one of these based on the diameter of your exhaust and look it up on Amazon for the best price.

For example... if you want to get a 2.25" catalytic converter, write down the Vibrant part number (7001) and search Amazon as such: "Vibrant 7001". You'll find this ($73 shipped). eBay has them too, but for some reason I found Amazon to have better prices on Vibrant stuff (I bought their muffler, resonator and high flow metal core cat).

Best of luck,

-Walter

PS= don't let the muffler shop charge you more than $30-50 to weld the cat and - most importantly - don't let them scare you with additional work that your car might need. Bring a male friend that knows cars so he can help you out.

also im trying to look up info on the diameter,

say i get a 2.25 and its actually a 2.5 or a 2.0 does that mean it's not going to fit? what from i've tried to find in google 2.25 sounds like the right diameter but i'm not sure.

2.25 will work fine. If it's 2.0 or 2.5, a good exhaust shop can make it happen. Also, Don't let your exhaust shop take your old cat. They're worth their weight in platinum, and you can scrap it for the price of your new one...

Where do you live because in Cali they have special rules for this.

The real question you should be asking (that I am asking) is if aftermarket mufflers are as good as OEM mufflers when it comes to emissions.

Some shops have rules about welding on CATs. Most shops will only weld on the CATs that they sell. Others dont care.

If I'm not mistaken, in Cali (don't know where the OP is from) you can't just throw any old converter that you want on your car any more. Regardless of whether or not you're a male or female (don't understand what the hell that has to do with it anyway) your best bet is to find a direct replacement converter that also complies to the emissions laws in your area.
