Default Should I do it... remove PS that is

Morning all, during my rebuild of my ITR I have been thinking about removing my Power Steering completly. My primary reason being because I am adding a JRSC and we found out that one of the PS line toward the rear of the engine bay is interferring with the belts, so that means we have to adjust the lines so it doesnt goes between the belts.

Now my reason for not removing the PS is because I like to take my car out for some days of my daily driving. I end up doing a lot of parallel parking and not to mention that when parking in my garage it ends up being a tight squeeze.

As for my current steering wheel set up, I have the MOMO SRS DC 2 JDM wheel, so size isnt a problem. Just wondering how much of a hassel it is being more of a daily driver.

Thanks

Are you talking about just removing the pump and lines or getting a manual rack to replace the P/S rack with. I removed just my pump and lines, did the "hose loop" thing and hated it! way too stiff for me. Installed a manual rack and loved it. Only a bit stiff turning at dead stops. Remember having stickier wider tires makes that "stiffer feel" at slow speeds. The manual rack was intended for the lower model Hondas with the little skinny tires.
If your installing a JRSC along with a manual rack it really frees up some room in the bay. That's one thing I liked about mine when I had the SC and no P/S.
Hope I've helped.

I removed mine and put in the T fitting with breather. Wish I had not taken it out, haha.

I had that padawan kit for like 2 weeks and put it back to PS.

In my area I think state inspectors fail some people when they remove it too. If you plan on autocrossing it's going to suck.

I have a JRSC too but it's not in the way.

I did the padawan mod for a couple of years and then just got tired of all the effort.

put the p/s back in 6 months ago and love driving my car again

I agree with, if your gonna remove the PS do a manual steering rack.

I removed the PS when i had my h22 swapped gsr and it was horrible to drive under 5-6 mph. Especially with 205 55 r16's. I did not do a manual steering rack either.

Definitely save your PS if you can.

It's like 3-4hp. Is it really worth the hassle of having no p/s?

And why does your JRSC interfere with the p/s? It shouldn't.

Take a look at this thread.

Keep the rack, but remove the pump and belt.

well I just ordered all the parts to do the breather system. Freakin cost $105 with all the parts.

Its the line that goes along the body frame to the rack, if I recall correctly. I dont know if it was due to the accident. Basically its coming between the JRSC belt. Unless thats the proper way. I thought it should clear the JRSC belt and not come between it.

Doesn't interfere it just gives some more room in the bay.

Removed my PS and put in a breather setup for the rack. Regretted it.
Take the belt off for a little while and see if you like it before removing the whole thing.

In a way I am doing this because I wont have the parts in time. I hope I dont regret it.

When I purchased the car, the AC was not installed. I am acutally putting it back on during the rebuild, just in time for Summer .

I feel that with the JRSC it seems to be very crowded in the rear of the engine bay.

That's what I'm screaming. Especially here in the humid south.
