Icon2 Sticky/non-disengaging clutch and grinding while in gear

Recently I noticed a couple of symptoms in my 94 del Sol VTEC (b16a3). The clutch pedal movement no longer has a smooth/consistent feel. Also, under moderate/heavy acceleration, the clutch will not disengage when the pedal is pushed to the floor.

Along with the clutch problems, I hear a soft grinding noise coming from the transmission while the car is 1)in motion, 2) clutch is pressed/disengaged and 3) the stick is in a gear.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ahh! the clutch master cylinder is almost bone dry inside the reservoir! There is a leak inside the firewall under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal. Looks like a bad master cylinder indeed.

Btw, it's the original clutch at 162k.

Ok, I replaced the master cylinder and bled the system. The clutch still does not always disengage when pressed to the floor. Any ideas?

Check the slave cylinder. Might be leaking.

Turns out it was a broken clutch. One of the dampening springs had popped out. I guess 162k miles on the original clutch is pretty good
