Default Cat-less test pipe - 02 CEL

I'm thinking of grabbing one of those cat-less test pipes for an easy exhaust mod.

Will this cause a CEL for the 02 sensor. These test pipes do come with o2 sensor bungs.... anyone have one of these or know FOR SURE if this would be the case.

thanks,
J.B

just do the o2 sensor mod and you won't throw a code. You'll still fail emissions test if your'e in cali but just put your stock cat back on when you do smog. Where u located?

If you're looking for a raspier exhaust without any performance gain, then you can run a test pipe with either spark plug defoulers spacing the secondary oxygen sensor or an oxygen sensor simulator. But, as already stated, you will not pass emissions in any state that requires a sniffer.

I am in Canada, the land of automotive lawlessness...

more information on the spark plug defouler method and how it works?

Here's a simple Google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=spark...uler+o2+sensor

Basically, you stack two defoulers and run the Oxygen Sensor. It spaces the sensor out from the exhaust flow, to prevent the sensor from receiving the full-stream of exhaust flow.

But, as I stated earlier, you're not going to gain any performance from this. You'll only see a change in exhaust/engine noise.

Hmmm seems pretty legit.
Anyone have experience actually running this stacked defouler set up with no cat?

i had the 2 stacked defouler thing when i was running a race header that eliminated the cat on my '02 civic. i threw a CEL, but others seem to have some luck with it.
