F22B2 Mystery Knock?
Hey Guys, I've been a long time reader but never had the chance to post.
I've got a 95 Accord (F22B2) 5-Speed.
It's developed a noise that sounds EXACTLY like worn rod bearings (only noticeable when warm and between 2000-3500 rpms).
I checked oil pressure both hot and cold, and both are within spec..
So, I figured it had worn rod bearings, or something of the nature. I dropped the pan, and plastigauged everything, and all was within spec. The rod bearings had hardly any wear, and everything was tight (Bearings, no play in rods).
I changed the rod bearings anyway, and the noise still persists. It's coming from the rear of the block , hard to discern exactly where (stethescope doesn't help, but it's NOT coming from the oil pan from what I can tell.) Noise does NOT change when spark plug wires are removed one by one.
Since I'm 99 percent sure it's not crank/rod/wristpin related, the only thing I can can think of at this point is something balance shaft related. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Any suggestions?
