Default New Starter?

So i recently did an auto to manual conversion on my ls and everything seemed to be going fine, until on the 3rd day driving it....it randomly wouldn't turn on anymore. I tried jumping it because i thought it was the battery and no. i checked the main relay cause my mechanic said it might be that and no..checked the started wires and they were connected..and my friend who does auto to manual conversions even checked my wiring for the conversion and said it was ok. so he said it must be the starter. so we banged up the starter solenoid to see if it worked and nothing. so we took out the starter to get it checked out at auto zone and it passed...we came back put it back on and nothing..he finally decided to give the starter direct power from the battery and the car turned on with a little gas...I need a new starter right? Keep in mind that the car WILL turn on if you jump start it in 2nd and reverse...

Someone help please..I don't want to waste $130 for nothing..

You said, "he finally decided to give the starter direct power from the battery and the car turned on" I assume that means you did a bypass jump, used a jumper lead to supply power directly from the batt. to the starter motor solenoid input on starter motor, [smaller of the two leads at the starter motor] if that is correct and engine turns over, then starter motor and solenoid are good and the problem is not the starter motor.

If the above is the case, I would have a look at jumper installed at A/T transmission position switch plug. 94

Check out your ignition switch. They are easy to replace but you have to diagnose it to determine if that is the problem.

Why pay a mechanic to do what you can do yourself.

Try the bypass jump, if engine cranks the starter and starter solenoid are not your problem.

It is the first thing we would do at our shop if a car comes in with the same kind of problem.

If engine does not crank when doing a bypass jump then I would check the grounds, confirm a ground problem, by connecting a jumper cable from batt. neg.(-) to engine, try and start the car, if no crank, ground is not the problem, connect jumper cablefrom batt. pos.(+) to batt. cable terminal on starter motor, try and start the car,if still no crank, the problem is the starter or starter solenoid. 94

Ive had the same problem for a few months, m/t obd0 b18a swapped crx
I replaced the starter about 6 months ago with another used one, it worked great for months, old starter was dead, now I have to jump the newer starter with the battery because my ignition wont engage the starter, i even tried another ignition i had from my old crx and plugged it into the fusebox...now i also have a new problem that started with a rpm hesitation at low rpms, which got worse and worse and now it wont turn over at all, by the end i was riding the clutch just so it wouldnt die, just to make it home, it still started for a few seconds with the manual start from the battery, now it wont even get that far, checked all the fuses and main relay checked out fine when we did the tests, swapped ECUs, all kinds of stuff, finally took off the fuel filter and its barely squirting any gas, dont wanna drop the tank and replace the pump til i figure out everything, I either got 2 big problems or a electrical nightmare...any advice or links would help us a great deal
