Default starter issue

Hello!
I recently did a auto to manual swap, and it seems the starter is acting funny. My bro and i put in a starter and sometimes it woukd start, and other times id have to hit the start. So after we inspected it, we switched the start solenoid with the known auto, and same thing. We hooked up jumper cables to the start, and ran a bar from the ground, to the positive, and it would start spark, and activate everytime. So we put it back in the, and of course, it wouldnt crank ..so do you guys think the screw is to blame?

Check the safety switch at the top of the clutch pedal. Make sure it is adjusted correctly.

When the starter won't turn the engine, does voltage fail to reach the starter solenoid? If so, check the starter wire connections at the shifter.

What are you using for ground when you do this^ voltage test?

You need to make an actual voltage measurement. But what did you use as ground with the test light?

When the starter won't crank, repeat the test except instead use the top of the transmission as ground. If you don't read voltage, then again use the battery (-) post as ground to see whether you now read voltage.

Ill pass that on to my bro...so you think the issue could be the starterim tempted to get a manual starter, and see if that does it, or the shifter sliding piece moved over a bit.

Did you buy a different starter? I was reading a auto to manual swap DIY yesterday and it said they are different starters. It might just not be meshing up correctly or engaging at all.

manual and auto starters ARE different! so when buying a starter buy one that coresponds to your transmission.
