'01 Civic Starts but Dies After 1 Second of Running
Has anyone had the following problem?
The car died on me while I was driving, it'll crank back up but dies after 1 second. The computer did not give any trouble codes. I could hear the fuel pump prime up but I changed the fuel pump anyways, checked the alternator and coil connections, checked throttle body gasket like the Haynes troubleshooting book says to do but no luck.
I checked the main relays but they seem to be good. Please help.....

In addition to checking the fuel pressure ...
How many miles are on it?
Has the timing belt and tensioner been changed? If yes, when?
Have you tried resetting the ECU and do the Idle Relearn Procedure?
Checked for other air leaks? (besides the throttle body)
Checked for faulty harness and sensor connections?
There are other possibilities, as well.

To reset the ECU, just remove fuse #6 (15 amp) from the fuse box under the hood. Wait a minute before you put it back in, then do the idle relearn procedure.
- Turn everything electrical OFF. (radio, wipers, a/c, lights, etc etc)
- Start the car and hold the idle at 3,000 RPM until the radiator fan comes on, or until the coolant has reached 194 degrees.
- Take your foot off the accelerator and let the car idle for five minutes. (if the radiator fan comes on, do not include its run-time in the five minutes)
