Default T3 Wastegate Adapter Help

Hello everyone. I needed a t3 wastgate adapter for my car. I wanted to use the stock cast manifold. I have an rb25 in my 240sx a quality manifold will run me at least 1600.

I went on ebay and got an adapter for 50 bucks but it didn't bolt on the only way I could get it on was to weld it. As you all know welding cast isn't easy but I decided to try anyway. Needless to say I failed missreably :

This is the part that I bought and the problem with its design.

This was my solution :

I realized I should make it use a vband flange instead :

I have 3 questions :

1. Will this work ?
2. How much do you guys think this would cost to machine and where can I go ?
3. Can I sell this if it works ?

I was trying to see if anyone here with machine shop experience could tell me roughly how much something like this would cost. It's my first year engineering and I'm not really sure how the machining process works I'm sure I will learn with time. I'm really excited to try this out.

Something I'm not sure about is how to figure out what size I should make the bolt holes.

you do realize numerous people have welded an external wastegate onto an rb manifold right?

I know that's a solution but this way doesn't require any welding cast iron and it's how I want to try. Also it can be used on any t3 manifold !

you're trying to complicate how to pour water into a glass.... just do it how everyone else does and be done with it... you'll save time and money in the long run

hi

I just signed up here to say your idea is awesome and is a much better design than the ebay ones..you would also be able to accomodate a larger 44mm wastegate as 38mm is often to small for rb25s and you could hide it underneath for stealth if required.
With some longer bolts/studs it should work great..

welding onto the standard manifold is a bit silly I think and looks messy, i would sooner just get an aftermarket manifold but this is expensive..

Out of curiosity did you have any luck with the ebay at all or did you give up on the idea.?. I have been thinking of doing the same..but cant find any info

Cheers

I kinda gave up on it and just got the ebay one proffesionally welded for 100 bucks. I'd still love to put this part into production I'm just not sure how much a cnc shop would charge for a peice like this. It's a pretty universal part it will fit any t3 manifold.

I was also thinking that if I put the wastegate ports on the side just like the eGay ones on a t4 flange I could divide it put two waste gate ports on each side of the adapter. You'd have a twin scroll conversion on any non twinscroll manifold but I never did the measurements I'm sure the size of the wastegates would be limited by the size of the flange. If you or anyone understands what I mean good idea or bad ?

If anyone here has access to cnc equiptment how much would you guys charge roughly for a one off peice ?
