We dont need no stinkin mandrel bends! A pictorial journey of a custom axleback..
What's going on guys! Took some pics today of my good friend's work who helped me make an axleback for my EM1. 304 SS tubing was used, Miller Dynasty 200, and many many pie cuts lol. a 3" universal Buddyclub prospec muffler was used, it sounds AMAZING!!! Screw mandrel bends!!
lol here are the pics...
Gettin ready

My friend also made and hand tig-ged all of the intercooler pipings.
a section that's been tacked

Doing more tack welding...gettin there

All of the pieces tacked on and ready to be welded

Detailed pics of the pie cuts

Epitome of a bad *** Backyard Special build

action shots y0!

zee machinee

rotas make for a great party platter

My buddy gettin happy cause he's almost done

Lots of argon, filler rods, and some time later....it's beautiful. Looks like something that would come out of Amuse in Japan or something!

Closer shots of the welds, my buddy used a filler as well as fused-welded the sections

by FAR my most favorite part on my car. Big shout out to my good friend for helping me and making this beautiful piece AND workin til midnight on it!

Looks great and thumbs up for the custom fabrication but buying one mandrel U bend would of saved a bunch of time. Either way looks sweet!
Thanks everyone! Yeah cutting some premade bends would've been easier but I think the final product wouldn't be near as sweet looking as this

there always gonna be negative comments, thats what u get when u post something on an open forum u know. that being said heres my somewhat negative comment......... it looks good IMO, but i would have buffed it all off first to give it a nicer finished look.

The exhaust and the beard are AWESOME!
What did you use to cut all of those pie cuts? They're very nicely done.

Looks like something that could have been MIGed in a 1/10th the time. But good stuff anyway. Pie cuts are B-eautiful
