2002 accord dash - gauges problem
hi all! got a question on 2002 accord coupe. im new at this so if i did anything wrong sorry in advance.
i just got some indiglo gauges and tried taking out my dash to install it, but the black frame protecting the glass housing for the guages was stuck at the bottom. i tried taking out the top 2 screws on the housing and no cigar. i heard there was 2 clips on the bottom but the thing is really stuck down there and im scared if i pull any harder the whole thing will just break off.
on a side note i found that if i pull the top of the black frame a bit i can see 2 more screws on the top. if i also take out the steering column plastic thingy i can see 2 more screws on the bottom of the dash. these seem to be for the actual gauges and not the black frame however.
anyone taken out their dash before and can share some insight? btw i was thinking of getting mufflers put in but really new to this. got a dual muffler (v6) and i wanna get aftermarket ones. 3.5 or 4inch tipped mufflers that look like cylnder within a bigger cylinder (not sure what those are called). thing is i want them to look real (not tipped stock ones) but same time i dont want them loud. ive heard some come with silencers but i dont know how those mount on... will they kinda do a reverse tip thing on the muffler? like putting a small tip on a big muffler. or if anyone can just point me into a good autoshop around LA that does good alarm, indiglow guage, and muffler install i would be greatful.
dang its a long first post, thanks in advance you guys.

for indiglo, you just have to yank it off, just pull it back one by one(left and right).
get some thin double side tapes for indiglo guage faces(you'll need it).
try not to use super glue at all.
for mufflers if you want universal type, i guess you can pick any style you want, for bolt on type you really have to pay attention then.
if you dont want it loud just buy some mufflers come with silencers(and for the sake of getting abuse by annoying cops).
it's a good idea to check and pull out and see if the silencer is detachable before welding it, because a guy i know cant pull that sucka out after welded it.

using reasonable amount of strength i still cant pull it out, anymore i think something would break. im pretty handy with stuff round the house just not cars so im not new at knowing breaking points.
for the mufflers, do you know if the silenser is flush with the muffler as its hardly noticable or does it actually look like a small tip on a big muffler? any idea how much an install for a universal and for a bolt on one?
btw thanks for replying so fast.

For the cover you just have to pull hard, no other way to get it out, trust i broke one of the tap but you cant tell coz there like mini-support tab around it.
NIKE-->JUST DO IT
em..universal muffer(1), muffler shop can but it on for 35 bucks.
they will remove the one muffler(make sure you keep it, for selling the car later or getting in law inforcement's way or just simply selling it on ebay
)
make sure you get some nice mufflers, because those cheap muffler wont last for long, i guess no one love weed cutter sounds.
the muffler shop will weld you a hanger to hang the muffler the position you want.
Just to be sure no too close to melt the bumper, yet enough clearance for entering driveway(Lowered).
For those bolt-on kind they more expensive but it's custom fitted.
getting the bolt-on muffler installed all you need is a set of wrench, wd40
DIY(i broke two socket wrench heads trying to take out three bolts)

the silencer goes into the 3" or 4" tip of your muffler, beware! some cheapo muffler silencer can stuck in the muffer after welding, i guess all the heat or just
poor design. good luck dude, and take some picture when you're done

Like everyone else said, pull very hard. When i did it, i put my hands on the left and right insides and pulled out from there. It is a tight fit but once the top screws are out, the only things holding the cover on is the two tabs on the bottom. forget tools as you will probably scuff something up. if you get this far (barely beginning) holla back.
