ok i got a b16a full swap about a year ago and i seen that my motor looked diff. its obd 0 first gen and the motor is a 91 it say 91 on the head and its pr3-2 but i know thats just the casting numbers but on valve cover the VTEC part is bigger then the dohc part for the most part the valve cover is diff. then all the frist gen b16a i have seen can someone help here! i have been told the last few months of 91 honda want to the 2nd gen is this true ? o and the ecu is a pr3 and it hads a y1 trans and vtec kicks in at 5200 rpm and as far as i know it should kick in at 4900rpm not 5200rpm and it has not been changed its stock!! so can someone help please
1) learn some grammar, it took me an hour to read that
2) what is your Q exactly? if u can see the #s on the block and head, then why don't u know what engine u have? are u just asking bc ur vc is different?

also check the serial number below the engine code stamp
usually OBD0 Blocks start with a 1
and OBD1 blocks start with a 5

The motor and head seem to be a 2nd gen one. You can use the OBD-0 distributor and a PW0 or PR3 OBD-0 b16 ECU and it will be fine.
If you are ordering parts, I have a stock 1st gen b16a and I always order parts from a 95-96 (I believe)Del Sol with the b16a3 or a 99-00 Civic Si with the b16a2 in it. All the parts fit, you just have to watch on ordering stuff for your transmission.

if u paid for a first gen and got a second gen u came up they are just running it obdo all u would have to do is swap dizzzzys n ecu to run it obd1 sheesh
You can see for sure which gen the head is by looking at this picture:

No one is going to be able to say about the block as there are people that have 99-00 b16a2's that have 5 million stamp as well. So just consider yourself lucky if you got a gen 2 instead. I mean you make out either way, it's not like you paid for the gen2 but ended up getting a gen 1. The only difference is ~10 hp due to the compression ratio being SLIGHTLY higher (10.4:1 as opposed to 10.2:1 in the first gen)
