Default manifold issue...help!!

i recently bought a bmc log manifold that has the old style 4 bolt 44mm wastegate flange. for one the only wastegates i have seen that are 44mm are vband. second of all i think 44mm wastegate is overkill for a setup that im planning on only making 275whp max. what i was thinking is getting a 38mm flange like you would for making a dumptube and cut the 44mm flange off the manifold and weld the 38mm in its place. i think it would work but would like some input or advice from you guys. thanks in advance

i thought it would to i just wanted to get another opinion before u hack the old flange off. i just hope that the 38mm flange leaves enough room for the existing pipe to weld onto it that was my worry

You can, but the 44mm is a little big of a pipe for the 38mm.

Why not just dig around and find an old 44mm or rather just cut the flange off and have a 44mm vband welded on? It's never a bad thing to go bigger with the wastegate...

i know the 44mm is big but i dont think would matter for my setup as long as the flange could weld up.

i have tried searching for 44mm and most are vband which isnt bad i could weld on a vband but the wastegates are so much more expensive than a 38mm and i was trying to keep it a budget setup.

ditch the manifold and buy one suited for your needs.

This shouldve been researched first before" buying then researching".

Your best bet is to either ditch the manifold and get one that fits your needs or find an old 44mm with the 4 bolt flange.

Going up in size is easy, you just drill out a bigger hole and go. Going down is a problem, because you have to fill the hole, and you really shouldn't just weld a 38mm 2 bolt because it will be a pretty nasty choke.
