Default Cam Question? need input

I have a 2000 GSR and i was wondering if it's possilbe to run Toda spec B cams on stock fuel mangement, stock 270 injectors and Apex-i V-AFC. Of course i have the Toda valve train, Toda cam gears and Port Flow retainers. I thank for taking the time in reading my post and any input on the subject is greatly appreciated. Duce and be safe.

Yes I'm certain it's possible, though you may get a bit lean up top. If you add an adjutable FPR and gauge, like the B&M combo you could increase fuel pressure, that would help. I'm running the Crower 63403's with stock fuel pump and squirters. I've bumped my fuel pressure up and added a spot of fuel here and there with the Vafc. I'm delighted with the results, but like all speed addicts, I WANT MORE!

The trouble is you'll want to get all the air into your engine you can, and you'll need fuel for that air. When you boost the Vafc more than about 15% at any particular point your ECU objects. Raising the fuel pressure shoule allow you to maintain balance.

The guy at Toda told me to lean out at ilde 10-20% with the V-AFC because of the primary lobe being so large and to enguage V-TEC at 6000 RPM because at that point the secondarys are open. I guess he know what he's talking about cuz he work for Toda but did you have to do something simalar to that?

Nope nothing similar. I did precisely that. My idle gets rough depending on the cam gear settings, +2.5I/+.5E, dropping the fuel at 1k on the Vafc smooths it out significantly. My Vtec x-over is currently at 5800, though there's a slight bog, should probably be right near 6k. I just love the sound. lol

I notice that you have a CAI. This guy i deal with in South Carolina said that a short ram intake would work better with Toda spec B cam. He said that he try it with short ram intake and CAI and that the short ram works better that it give you more HP for some reason . Do you think that's true?

Nope. But here in MI, you can benefit from the cold...least till the snow flies. I've actually turned the AEM CAI into a "poor-man's" icebox system though. With ram-air from my wings west vent. I've nearly convinced myself entirely that I like it better than the AEM CAI setup. I did try the AEM as a short ram though...it was easy since I cut it for a bypass valve. It makes ALLOT of noise, some people might perceive that as power, but I ran some numbers and the short ram lost big. Course I didn't do anything to shield it from engine temps either. The noise with the big cams was too much though anyway.
