OBD0 PR3 JDM B16A 1st gen distributor took a dump
Need accurate info.
I'm in a pinch, because I'm traveling a long distance and stuck in a small town. Only parts supply I can connect to or close by is an O'Reilly's.
There was a big winding and vibration coming from the distributor when the engine was on, I stopped by O'Reilly's and replaced the rotor and cap with obviously no luck, having the same symptoms and also finally died out.
I found out the rotor and cap parts for the distributor only matched a CRX distributor. I'm guessing the distributor is a CRX SOHC distributor? It says PM6 next to the gear behind the rotor.
My question is. What dizzy (From any OBD0 Acura/Honda car) can I replace the distributor with being OBD0 and JDM?
I already ordered the CRX Si dizzy.
I don't not have access to other dizzy's to strip parts from.
Any help is gladly appreciated.

I don't recall the OBD0 B16A dizzy part number, but i can tell you right now that the stock D series crx distributor will get you no where. So don't waste any more time with that
You might be able to rig something up with the 1990-91 Integra B18A dizzy, it would be the closest usdm option if you are in a pinch

Not to back up the d series distributor, but I looked up PM6, and PM6 distributor comes from a CRX Si. Which is installed on my b16.
Identifying that, I had the car for 4 years and never had a problem with the dizzy until now.
Who knows how long the previous owner had it before me.
But also, seeing that the original crx dizzy is installed, I'm also guessing the connectors stayed the same.
Not too sure if an integra dizzy has the same connections.
I'm only coming to that conclusion now, but I wouldn't have very much proof of that.
Any more info definately would help to conclude.
And thanks again Deetz, you and Tyson and a few othersd are always here helping out whenever I have a problem haha.

I was wondering also. When I want to change the distributor, can I just unbolt those three bolts and pull it out, or will I have to also remove the cam bearing cap?

Well, I'm in a pinch to where I can't wait for shipping. I'm at a hotel in transit of a 1,900 mile trip.
But do you happen to know if I have to take the valve cover off and unbolt the camshaft bearing cap in front of the dizzy to take out the dizzy?

1st Gen B16 Distributor is part # TD-22u

90-91 OBD-0 Integra LS Distributor # TD-23
I am using this dizzy on my 1st gen B16 but I had to cut off one of the "legs" to get it to fit. It has been solid for over 3 years and it is the best solution for this application. Other than cutting the leg, it is plug & play.

here is what I had to cut

No you do not need to. Just the three 12mm bolts holding the dizzy to the head.
you can also transfer the "guts" from the new dizzy into the old housing.
For me, the shaft bearing seized and destroyed the old housing, so I had no choice but to use the new housing and cut.

I think your situation is exactly what happened to mine. I think my dizzy's bearing seized but haven't looked to see if the housing was broke.
It sounded exactly like a bearing dryed out, winding but also crackling inside the housing of the dizzy, then all of a sudden the car shuts off.
I'll definately try the integra dizzy when have time later. Just gonna stick with the crx dizzy since I don't have time nor have my cutter with me.
Thanks for all the help! Definately saved me time, and probably better ignition when I throw the integra dizzy on.

My bad, I had one more question. Do I really have to crank the first piston top dead center before taking off the old distributor and putting in the new distributor?
I hear it is offset that you you don't have to worry about getting the distributor 180 degrees backwards.
Any help is appreciated

it should only fit one way. i really doubt you have a d16 dizzy on your b16 though. a used 90-91 integra dizzy and mod it to fit...that's the cheapest fix. then buy a new one from distributor king!
But the thing that bugs me is that the distributor has PM6 behind the rotor on the housing next to the gear.
It is shaped the same way also as that first dizzy picture gringo provided.
I'll take a look at it tomorrow. I don't want to keep my hopes high. But the distributor says PM6 (CRX Si dizzy). I'll match it up with the new one. and see if everything is the same.
If anyone can really conclude this, it would help haha.
According to what I found, You can use BOTH. The D16 and the 90-91 Integra LS dizzy housings both require one of the legs being trimmed so it doesn't hit the vtec solenoid. (lower left leg in this pic)
