battery or alternator????
while driving.. my charge lite is on... at nite i went racing and while driving bac home i notice all my gauges are dead... my clock is dimming and.... i realize the lites are goin out... i thot the car died but it didnt... it ran normally... so i wouldnt know if its the alternator or the batterY?? my car didnt start after it was shut off but i made it home safely in the dark... the next morning it started back up normally but charge lite is back on.... wat is it?
Probably the alternator, but it could be the voltage regulator. The battery is very unlikely to cause the light ammeter to go on (although not impossible). Get it fixed ASAP, or it will leave you stranded.
Probably on a dark road in a place you don't wanna be.
Good luck.

well, if the batt's putting out 12 volts and HOLDING that charge, it's probably your alternator, BUT, first, check ALL electrical connections and make sure nothing's loose or rubbing, and if everything looks clean, it's your alternator.....it's not even worth rebuilding a honda alternator, so just go to pepboys/autozone and get a reman'd one w/ lifetime warranty and you'll be fine....late
you talking about the brushes I assume. Check your alternator fuse! $2.15 saved me a whole bunch of worrying. I'd check there first. Then take an ohm meter and check the voltage your alternator is putting out, or just take to Napa.
