Default 95 civic cutting off please help!

recently i bought a 4 door honda civic for 500 dollars with a swapped d16z6 vtec engine. i noticed while driving yesterday that when the car gets warm the oil light flickers and if i let of the clutch a little bit (if im stuck in traffic) it will shut off im new to civics. but the vtec solinoid isnt plugged up because it doesnt have a vtec ecu nore a vtec wiring harness. its always reving from 1000 to 2000 rpm just still. anyone know what is wrong with my car? please help!!

Do NOT drive that car until you positively identify that there is nothing wrong with the oiling system. My main concern is the oil pump. Did you check the oil levels? Oil change? First thing I would have done would have been a full tune-up. Do you know the history of the car? Did the former owner tell you about any of these issues? Check all fluids? Clean the IACV? Clean FITV (if it has one)?
Is the Check Engine light on or flashing?

The check engine light doesnt come on its the oil light it flickers once the car has warmed up. the former owner said he was telling me all he knew about the engine since they installed the d16z6 fluids are fine the oil is a quarter of an inch above the highest mark on the oil stick though. he did a tune up on the engine and changed the belts, wires, and spark plugs. i havnt cleaned the FITV or the IACV.

Like I said, don't drive that car until you verified the oiling system is working.

Also, unless you know for a fact he did everything he claims he did I wouldn't trust him to be telling the truth. You can if you want to risk it.

First of all, make sure there is enough oil in the dang thing. Make sure the oil pressure sensor wire is connected tight and the wire is not damaged. If that checks out, but the oil light still flickers on, the engine is already toast.

You can stop driving now and have the bearings replaced. If you are lucky, the crank and rods are not damaged. Or keep driving it and experience catastrophic failure, leaving you stranded, in need of tow truck, weeks without your car, and a huge repair bill.

Forgot to mention, one cause of low oil pressure is a clogged oil pickup. It happened to one of my Preludes I bought for $100 with a blown head gasket. In that case, head gasket material got into the oiling system and was sucked into the oil pickup screen. To fix it, removed the oil pan and pulled out the screen for a good cleaning. Put it back together with a new o-ring and oil pan gasket and drove the car for 3 years.

well in the end...you only paid 500 bucks!

How long have you had the car?

Does it ever cut off before the oil light comes on?

And you are saying that your vtec solenoid is plugged into your oil sensor?

ive had the car for about 2 months but only drove it from the buyers place to my dads job. i was looking on the internet and saw that on the vtec solinoid was the oil sensor and since the solinoid isnt hooked up nore is the sensor i figured thats why the oil light flickers. it doesnt cut off before, its just like you know for instance when you are in traffic and you let off the clutch a little bit to go without giving gas it will cut off and not stall out cut off it will just cut off and ill have to start it back up.

Make sure it doesn't have a vaccum leak... oil pressure is not gonna make the car die only if it doesn't have oil... in that case it'll lock up... vtec should have nothing to do with that.. and without it its just not at full potential.. other than that, look for a leak and possible oil pump
