Radiator fan not working and I hear what sounds like a bearing whine????
So a few days ago I was driving home and just out of the blue my car started to overheat but then immediately went back to normal. Once I got home I checked and my fan wasn't working and I noticed that I was low on coolant so I filled it up. I then let it idle for 25 minutes to see if it would overheat or the fan would turn on. Neither happened.
Fan still does not work and I have ridden it pretty hard to try and get it to overheat and nothing. Any ideas?
Also, I have a strong whine/cry/ring noise coming from what sounds to be the power steering pump? It's not a belt whine and I replaced the water pump, timing belt, ps belt and alt belt. To me, it sounds like a pulley bearing.
I was told that my ps pump could be going.

I think I have this exact same problem. I just installed a new D15B7 engine, because the old one was overheating massivly, and burning oil.
I let the engine idle for about 2 hours after the install, and I dont ever recall the fan coming on, but the car never overheated either. Drove it around for an hour, still no overheat. I drive 45 miles on the highway, get home and now the car is smoking, radiator cap is throwing out steam(or coolant whatever)...I have the exact same whine, ring type of noise that sounds like a bearing.
Im going to start with radiator cap, and get the fan working and then work from there.

Heater hose had a pin hole leak, my power steering just needed to be tightened and now it runs like a champ. Just drove an hour to and hour back from in laws at 80+ all the way and no problems.
