Default Blown head gasket - need advice

Ok, well i have a 97 civic SiR....blew the gasket a few months ago, took it to my mechanic he had the head shaved and all that and i got it back. But he broke my knock sensor so it drove weird obviously, got some overheating a couple times which he said was a result of the missing knock sensor. Did a radiator flush cos i started seeing sum brown particles in the water...the overheating stopped. Got the new knock sensor, installed it, reset ecu drove fine for a few days then the check light came back on and it was throw cel 23 again. Started getting alot of hesitation, stuttering, cutting off, white smoke from the car so i thought it was because of the sensor...turns out oil had somehow flood my spark plugs bcos the seals were wasted. Got that sorted...still cel 23...but at least i was driving good again until it overheated....again.

Did some checks...bubbles from radiator, choclate milk looking oil, oil leaking from somewhere....in a nutshell all signs of a blown gasket again. Don't wanna change the gasket and end going thru the motions again so i'm desperately seeking advice before i drive it off a cliff!

I'm bit of a newbie so i'm really trying to avoid buyin a new engine or head and block if i don't have to. Anyone ever get this or know wat i can do???

The overheating most likely warped the head. Should not have driven it like that.

Had a similar problem with a 93 del sol w D16Z6. I thought it was a simple blown head gasket. Had air bubbles in the coolant reservoir and the top radiator hose was hard due to compression gases. Put some dye in the oil and rode around. Later checked the coolant and saw dye in the coolant. Therefore my mechanic assumed it was more serious maybe a cracked block or head. Cracks can be real small. Didn't want to pay for the head gasket just to have a similar problem. Found another D16Z6 and installed it. It's a gamble.

Replacement D16Z6's may be hard to find. I got a running replacement installed for $1350. I think I was lucky.
