97 Honda Civic Radio
I have a 97 Honda Civic that I bought. The radio that was in there wasn't hooked up and there were 0 speakers in it. Well, my brother put a new radio in for me. He told me all I needed was speakers. Well, I just got around to buying speakers...I've touched both of the wires together from the speakers to the wires in the door and no sound comes out of the speaker. I can clearly see that the radio is playing (I put a CD in). I checked the fuse under the steering wheel and it isn't blown. So, what could possibly be the problem?
I had the same problem with one of the speakers i bought in a set. Id hook them up and only one would work, it wound up being a wire between the speaker lead and the speaker itself got somehow damaged and was barely connected to the speaker.
Assumed? How do you know the wires are not cut somewhere between the back of the deck and the door? Better to make sure. How do you know the speakers are working? What model of Civic we talking about?

look at the harness that go to the speakers to the back of the headunit..i had a similar problem installing my brothers radio in his ek..he ended up not having any of the wires for the front speeakers...i had to run new wires and that solved the problem.. goodluck
If it's a stock harness and radio it's plug and play. No way to NOT wire it correctly. Best to have your brother actually finish the install since he seems to know a bit more than you do about the install of this deck.
I wish it was simple enough for him to install it, but he lives 4.5 hours away. All the connections are connected correctly. The speakers are brand new so they should work. Guess, it's time to find a professional. Really don't have the $ to spend on that but I'm beyond aggravated!
No. pull the head unit out, connect some wire from the speaker wire outputs from the head unit and connect it to your speakers. this will tell you if its the car wiring, the head unit, or speakers.
