rust repair gone bad. HELP
living in mi sucks bad and i hate rust i have sold most my cars because they started rusting out. well this time i decided to fix it. 00 civic with quarter panel rust bubbles starting to show
you can see the bubbles and rust coloring going down to the bumper as you see here

its not bad but enough to give me headache every time i look at it

so i grind the paint off and grind the rust best i can i bought a por15 starter kit to use before i primed all the stuff down.
as you see here

after all of this i layed a nice layer of por15 on it then sanded that down. then i put a bit of bondo over the por15 and sanded that down.

then i layered it with about 3 thick layers of primer. self etching primer.
i did not paint it just primed it. because im waiting for summer to paint it.
well about 2 weeks later it bubbled again and i redid everything over took days
and i primed it again
well this week i noticed that once again **** it has started to rust bubbles. the underside is fine but the outside i see the rust bubbles.
please help what am i doing wrong. is it because im priming it and not painting it or not prepping it well. i also clean the bare metal with a cleaner that preps bare metal for paint.

What cleaner are you using? Any kind of moisture that gets on the bare metal will start to rust very fast, do you have any pics of what it looked like after you re did it? And do you keep the car outside at all times whole you re fixing it?
im doing this inside my garage
the car is inside for about 12 hours after i prime it than i start to drive it at usual since this is my dd
i can get some pics of it right now if that helps
definitely try using a different primer. A lot of the time the stuff in the rattle can is lacquer based and it will hold moisture. When you use something like that it tends to end up bubbling or rust spreads. at least you are using por-15 its a good product with small spots.try buying some utech 2k100 primer or something along those lines, it's a cheaper way to prime like the pros

Honestly I have used Bondo on Really bad Rust spots on bare Metal and was having the same problem. What my solution was, I bought a quart of Fiberglass Kitty-Hair as a base to the body and filled it in. Then I put the Bondo over that and Metal Glaze on top of that. So far its been a Year and a Half and still Holding strong. But again mine was WAYYYY worse than yours, So this method I think would work for you....... Frank-E
You could try a epoxy primer to lay down over the repair. Get a can of white spray paint from the auto store or from paintscratch.com to lay temp color over the repair and some good can clear from carquest or from paint scratch. That would help protect it til summer time. For added protection spray some new rubberized undercoating or some kind of rust prevention paint in the wheel wells
the reason why it is rusting is due to the fact that filler is not water proof...you need to use a fiber glass based filler. also you may not be getting all the rust of of the "infected" area.
1.grind off paint old filler and rust
2.clean area
3.apply FIBERGLASS filler
4.sand
5.clean
6.you can put filler over this if you want to..(DONT USE BONDO)
7.sand feather edge it all out
8.clean
9.prime it

i dont know how but it got very bad.
so today i cut the panel rust out with a cut off wheel. i cut alot of material and seems like i may even need a new panel but you guys will be the judge on that. hopefully i can fix it this time

ok so i cleaned it and neutralized the rust then cleaned it and layed 3 thick layers of por15 all around it.
looks like its sealed from water now. should i prime it too or should the por15 hold up till the summer
hers some pics of the outcome. i did cut the major spot of rust out
