Icon2 95 accord bad noise.

I just got a 94 accord lx. It's a 4cyl 2.2. From a friend told me it sat around for almost two years. I fix a few things on it and did all the fluids. It starts fine but sometimes when I start it it has a realy loud noise, if I turn it Off then restart it, it's not there then runs fine with no noises. the noise I hear is like a grinding noise not from timing belts. Is from the passenger side. What can this be?

Try to either narrow down the location or make a video of it.

Does it sound like the starter? It could be the bendix of the starter drive is hanging up. Might pull the starter and check the movement of the bendix.

EDIT: Sorry holmes....slow typing

Yes but if the bendix hangs in the flywheel every now and then....it starts, yes-but the engine is then trying to turn the starter bendix. Sorry wasn't clear-not saying it wasn't pushing out, was suggesting it may not be retracting all the way.

Anyway-yes a vid with sound would help.

Is there anything wrong with the ignition/key cylinder. Perhaps it's sticking open and the starter is stuck cranking.
