Default Engine suddenly lost power and died, rpm guage jumped about

Alright, well for the past couple months my car has been bogging about. Like, sputtering in low rpms. I've changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, fuel filter, rail, injectors, pressure regulator, o2 sensor, even put on the stock exhaust and airbox (unrelated to the issue), and recently, I warrantied out my ngk wires and it started to run perfect; like nothing was ever wrong.
Now, my problem is that when i was driving home today, it just... died.. it suddenly lost power and my rpm guage just jumped about. and when it DOES start, it quickly dies. now im wondering, is it the distributor after all? any insight...?

possibly be your dizzy went bad..someone correct me if i'm wrong, but if the dizzy isn't working properly, your car shouldn't be able to run either..btw* kind of late, but their was no need to change the o2, that's just for emissions basically.

Year? Model? Trim level? All would really help here, any CEL codes?

Have the igniter unit tested at an auto parts store.

Alright, so i baught a new distributor, and it will start now, but does the same thing, the rpm meter jumps about and then dies. but it will stay on longer. i put my foot on the gas about halfway. A friend told me it could be water in my fuel? does anyone think this is correct?

Any CEL codes?

Did the new distributor include a new cap and rotor? What are the condition of the plugs and wires?

its the ICM. You can test teh codes by jumping the 2 pin service connector under the passenger side dash near the ECU. I had the same issue when my ICM died. Either the connections on the ICM came lose or the ICM itself is bad/going bad.

You can do this yourself. Click the CEL link in my signature.

The jumping tach may be the sign of a bad igniter unit or loose wire..
