It seems like Argon (100%) gas refill prices have gone up. Those of you more experienced in Tig Welding than me (only ~2 years), where do you guys get your gas refilled and @ what price?

 

i have a 139cf bottle and it cost me bout 30 bucks to get filled. I go local little welding shop not a national chain like airgas, valley, or prax air.

 

I'm in seabrook Texas and get my 330 tanks filled for 22$ each. Rent them for like 6$ per bottle a month. Air gas is way over priced imo.

 

330 filled for $22???? The big one>?? WTH! Here where I live everywhere I call, its between $58-82 bucks! FML

 

You got it! I've been paying this for years. I was there first customer lol. Very nice welding supply store. It's called "welders industrial". It's a locally run place that to my knowledge only delivers tanks in a 50 miles radius. Also, there tanks are all very nice looking, they paint them Probley once every 2 months. Very clean. When i first started going to them it was only 17$ to fill the big 330ci, with free delivery! Now there is a flat rate 12$ delivery fee, and the tanks are 22$ to fill. And I believe I pay 5$ per bottle rental each month. I remember my first argon bottle was a little 125ci I bought from airgas (410$) and it cost 63$ to fill it. Then i kept seeing this place saying "opening soon!" So I went there, never looked back.

I just went to Airgas for mine, 70$ to rent for the year and then the first fill was 40$ or so. I didn't have a Tax-ID yet and most of the other places won't rent to individuals.

 

and the $58 is a descent price! I pay $32 for my 150, and that is the best deal I can find in southeast wisconsin, and I called EVERYWHERE. I used to pay $75 when I had to go through praxair and a local hardware store. that **** sucked.

 

i pay $28 for a 330cf of argon and the C25 on my mig is $36 for a 330cf and this is at my local praxair. i was with praxair switched to indiana oxygen and praxair called me back about 2 months later with exelent pricing. i dont even use that much argon but in the summer i use 6-10 330cf of N20 and thats the gas they wanted to get back

 

My argon is $42 for a 330 at Ft Worth Welder Supply

 

i just got set up with metroplex welding supply and my 330cf tank is 40 bucks to fill. way better than 70 for 280 at praxair.

 

We canadians get raped, with no lube!!!
I pay $150 to fill XPR Argon. That is after considerable whining and scuffing the dirt, and my pull as an instructor.(Our college is the largest user of gases locally)
The price most guys pay is $220.

From what i've been told the price is majoritly reflected by how far the transportation is from the source. Im paying $48 for a UHP 300, liquid is $289.

 

Makes sense. All the gas is made way out east. 3000km's from here.

 

I pay $173 NZD for a G size argon (Not sure what that is in american speak), rental is $0.20 a day.

G size is our biggest bottle so I'm guessing it's 330cf

 

i bought my 75 bottle for $175, and refills/exchanges are $30

 

4 manufatuerers have 96% of the Argon production. Praxair just announced Argon prices increasing 20%, January 2013. That follows an 18% increase announcment in June of 2012. It is in short supply, expect all will raise prices as well.

Hmm...guess i havent got a bad deal here i think..... here in holland you normally pay about 45 euro for a 1t bottle...at work we get it for about 15 euro for a 50 liter bottle...and i ..well i fill my 10l bottle up to r from a 50l for free :p
