Default VTEC not working

Just built an lsv, with a b16 head and vtec doesn't work. Previous motor was a b16a and the vtec worked in my eg hatch VX. I used the solenoid on my b16 on the lsv. Checked the oil for dents, checked and refilled my oil, and replaced the pin and gasket in the head. I was wondering if connecting the oil pressure sensor on the BLOCK would be necessary to solve the problem. Or any other suggestions???

First thought would be yes. Is it the sensor or the sending unit? Or are they even seperate on those>>?

Biggest problem with the ls vtec is trying to get the vtec to work right.

The LS block came with no oil pressure sensor on the block in the back, other than that the solenoid's oil pressure switch is connected.

i have no idea but it gets hooked up so when VTEC engages the light comes on, that way you know for sure if its engaging or not and just cant feel it.
