Icon6 are my sleeves fubar???

i have a question, i bought this h22a4 block with a 5k on a fresh build done by magnum machine in chesepeake virginia. i drove to richmond and picked it up and i was looking it over today in some better light and noticed that in the 3rd and 4th? cylinders there are some vertical grooves that barely catching a fingernail but still are. there is a single one in the 4th cylinder and there is two in the the 3rd one only comes up about 1/3 of the way and the other up close to the top of the sleeve, like i said they catch your nail but not gouged in, the pistons are mahle gold standard bore ( the reason i bought the block) will this be an issue since i will be boosting the engine, i was thinking that it may have been caused by someone not letting the engine warm up and the forged pistons didnt expand well enough, the other two cylinders are super smooth, can someone please let me know if the block is still safe to turbo? thanks

If it catches your finger nail you'll need to sleeve it. Those cylinder walls don't look good at all!

IT ALREADY HAS FORGED SLEEVES IN IT, THEY ARE MAHLE GOLD SERIES THEY ARE MADE TO WORK WITH FRM STOCK CYLINDERS, AND THEY DONT REALLY LOOK THAT BAD IN PERSON ITS JUST THE FLASH ON MY CAMERA MADE IT STAND OUT REALLY BAD LIKE I SAID BEFORE THERE IS ONLY 3 LITTLE VERTICAL LINES THAT I CAN FEEL A DIFFERENCE IN THEM

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about.

What you meant to say is that you have forged pistons that are compatible with frm sleeves. You don't have forged sleeves.

If they don't look that bad then why are you posting up pics and asking about them only to defend it when someone gave you an answer?
But yes you should get it honed.

Another mahle gold series piston horror story?

^Makes me wonder if Mahle say the same as JUN do? JUN says that they only work in BB1/4 blocks where the only difference is the 4g blocks are closed deck.

You should get sleeves, I wouldnt run it on any boost plus the frm likes to crack which then your going to have to sleeve it anyways. So pretty much those forged pistons you got were a waste... You dont need to get butt hurt when people are trying to help you out OP. Sorry its not what you want to hear, but its the truth

Oh did you pull out the pistons? there are imprints on the top that shouldnt be there

FRM sleeves aren't the problem, the pistons are. The first thing to fail in stock blocks when pushing the envelope on power usually isn't the sleeves. The highest I've heard of on a stock H22 was 600+whp, the highest i've heard of on an S2000's F20 block is upwards of 700whp. (701whp by T1, 772whp by Jeff Evans). If they're not "cracking" at those levels, i don't think they're the problem.

To the OP:
the scar on the first picture looks like its done. I think the bore limit on the FRM is 87.5 for the h22 (Think the type-S H22 pistons are this size), so if you're at 87 now, you'll probably be able to bore out enough to save the block.

the bore is stock, i checked the numbers for the mahle pistons and they are at stock size, and i didnt waste my money i dont think, i paid 500 for the block rotating assembly and the mahle pistons, so for cheaper than the pistons alone i got it all, im not getting defensive about oppinions just wanted answer and was trying to give as much information as i have on the block, well sounds like i spent 500 on something thats gonna cost another 500 for iron inserts. is it possible to run the pistons with iron inserts or will that cause piston failure? i dont want to buy more pistons to go with the new sleeves

Depending on what the pistons look like you might be able to re use them in another H22 block or get sleeves and buy new pistons

Just hone it a put it together. You will get to answer your own questions. I think It will be fine. Forced induction causes some blowby anyway.
