Default Driver's Side Driveshaft install

Any tips for doing this? How difficult will it be? As far as I know it seems pretty simple...I think there's only a couple of bolts. Thanks in advance.

Also, could a bad driveshaft (CV boot) be causing my car to accelerate choppy and steer somewhat loose?

It's pretty simple. You just need a 36mm socket to remove the axle nut. The easiest way to do it is loosen the nut with the car wheels on the ground. Jack the front up and remove the lower suspension bolts out, then remove the fork. It takes a little muscle to pull the axle from the intermediate shaft though.

Something tells me this will be tougher considering I'm lowered and have a bodykit Casue you are saying to jack it up but leave the tires on the ground so it's easier to break, right?

Pull the centercap from your wheel. Leave the car on the ground. Have an assistant push hard on the brakes. Loosen the nut.

Leaving your car on the ground when loosening the nut gives you the advantage of the friction of the tires against the ground.

Then jack it up to pull the axle.

I was just going to ask the same question. I have to replace my drivers side CV axle. In the Honda Manual it says you have to remove the lower ball joint? Also does the shaft come out easy on both ends??

Yes, the lower joint has to be popped. The axle will come out easier on the hub side than the trans side, or thats what i've noticed in the past. The reason for dropping the lower joint is so you can get the axle out, otherwise you cannot remove it.

this is one of the few cases where brain < brawn.

you really have to knock the crap out of the axle to get it out of the intermediate shaft.

I stuck a ball joint fork between the shafts and hit it with a crow bar.

I had to stick a pry bar in mine and hit it REALLY hard with a sledge hammer to get it out. Good luck.

actually you don't have to remove the lower ball joint... you can just disconnect the arm from the frame...MUCH easier.

Thats what I did. SInce if you dont have a ball joint puller, you'll NEVER get your ball joint out. At least on mine it was impossible. The passneger side is a little hard to get back into the frame though, but you can do it.
