Icon2 Problem with my 1989 Honda Civic

Alright well since this is my first post I wanna introduce myself before anything. My name is Nathan and I'm 19 years old I'm from Redwood City, California (Bay Area) I graduated from Sequoia High school and now I just chill. I'm a FORD guy that knows nearly everything to do with Mustangs I've owned 3.

My question is that I just bought a 1989 Honda Civic LX last thursday for $500 that drives really good but the problem I have is that wen I try to punch it, it only revs but doesn't go any faster. The only way I can gain speed is if I push the gas slowly but once I get to a certain point it only revs. I don't know if this is how a Honda is suppose to do or is it just mine that revs at a certain point?

Oh yeah BTW its a 5-speed

Check your clutch cable adjustment. It sounds like either it is out of adjustment or the clutch is worn out.

Yeah I was kinda thinking the same, so if I were to fix the adjustment it should be pulling right?

Give the adjustment a try but you probably need a new clutch.

Alright well I'll try to adjust it today, if it still doesn't work I'll install a new clutch. I found this weird because I've never had a car do that to me before I guess maybe because I always had cars that came with new clutches.

But thanks for the help

So my pedal bracket broke wenI was shifting into 5th on the freeway so I went to the Pick-N-Pull and got another bracket so while I was changing that out I thought I might as well adjust the clutch and I did, now it pulls like a champ well compared to how it used to be.
