Default Trouble bleeding brakes with DA swap...

I recently bought a full integra DA brake swap from a guy parting out his civic. I only had time to install the front knuckles so far, and its all in. I'm going to do the rears next week when I have time, so for now I just want the car to be drivable.

Thing is I can't seem to bleed the brakes. I'm using a mityvac vacuum pump (one man operation), which seems to work as its supposed to: bubbles, then clear fluid. Every time I finish though I get in the car and foot goes nearly to the floor.

I intend to install a 13/16" or 1" master cylinder and a 4040 prop valve once I have acquired them, but right now I just need the car going for a few days.

The braking system was working perfectly before I swapped the fronts on, master cylinder, booster, etc, were all perfect.

There aren't any leaks in the new brakes as far is I can tell...

Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated so I can get it going tomorrow and be mobile! I need to be driving by Saturday...

what car do you have? HF MC is too small.

and mityvac is useless... you really need to do a 2 man job to bleed it properly.

Sorry, its an 89 DX.

Hmmm...mityvac was recommended by some people, and I figured since I would be doing the fronts, rears, master and prop valve, all somewhat separately, it would be handy to have so I can bleed by myself. Well at least now I'm the proud owner of a vacuum leak tester....

Tomorrow I will see if I can get someone to help me pump the brakes...I really hope thats all it is!

PS> Have you shipped any 4040 prop valves to Canada?

you shouldnt need a bigger MC with the regular one, but it would help. im still guessing a just a bad bleed. but double check the piston seals arent leaking in the calipers either. im guessing you didnt get them rebuilt?

canadian price added to my for sale thread. not appropriate to talk about it here.

No, I didn't get them rebuilt. I suppose I could rebuild them when I have time, but I wanted to get everything in first. Calipers are easy enough to take off. I didn't notice any leaks anyhow.

I think its either a bad bleed, or something with the left front.
See this thread:

Started a new thread for a more direct response, since I solved the caliper removal issue.

why dont you just get a friend to help you since youre gonna waste your time rebuilding them. 1 man brake jobs are hard enough and nearly impossible without the PROPER tools. So get a buddy to step on the brake pedal for you, tighten the 10mm bleeder valve and youre set.

Brakes are bled. I think the L/F calipers bleed screw is hooped cause it just pisses down the side when you crack it instead of into the tube. I took it completely out and cleaned it up and it didn't help much.

The pedal doesn't feel as nice as it did before but it will help when I get the new bigger master cylinder in.
