at a loss...radio and cig lighter electrical problems
ok...I have a '92 civic hatchback...eversince i have had this car the OEM head unit has not worked (or so i thought)...so I finally installed a new deck this week. well, sitting in the car with the acc on, the unit is fine....when i drive, it cuts on off...on off...it may play for 5 minutes...then shut off for 20 minutes. It is hap-hazzard when it cuts on and off. Also, when the deck is off the cig lighter doesn't work...and when its on the cig lighter works.....sounds like a fuse/power problem right??? well that's what i thought...but, no matter how long the radio is off, the time/station presets are not lost....
I have read in some forums where it may be a bad ground....bad ELD, etc...
I may just run a power wire directly from the batt to the deck to see if this fixes it?
If it is the ELD...where the hell is it located?
any help is appreciated!!
thanks

I don't know. You didn't say that you were or not. Are you running a harness or is everything hacked up in there. IS the deck and lighter wired together somewhere?

im having the same problem except my battery dies out, like i cant run my radio and fogs at the same time or the radio and radar bc my everything just goes dead...ima look into though...hope this thread helps some...
Test your battery/alternator. I don't think you have the same problem.
ok...little update....
drove into work this morning and same thing...on/off...on/off with no lose of time or presets....so it's obviously a "switched" pwr. So, I removed fuse #23 for the radio/cig lighter and sanded the prongs of the fuse and put back in. The whole way home the radio worked fine as well as the cig lighter....maybe corrosion was my enemy...fingers crossed!
