I just bought a eg coupe with a b20b with a Vtec head i paid 1900 witch i think is a steal. The car leaks oil right under the distrbuter. and the car idles funny. When i start the car it idles at like 2000 rpm then when it warms up it sits at like 1000 rpm but sometimes when i am at a right light or not moving the idle goes from 1000-1500 it just goes up and down. The CEL is on and idk if this matters but it has a buddy club vtec controller so if anyone can shed some light on these problems i would like to hear what you think is wrong. Thank you....

 

High idle at startup is normal. The idle fluctuation may be several things.....IACV, low coolant level, etc.

Yank that crappy VTEC controller out. It is USELESS. Check what CEL code(s) it is.

 

and check for a vacuum leak that can cause your idling problem

 

bleed your coolant system, clean your iacv, check for any vacumm hoses that might be disconnected or cracked.. also might be the intake manifold gasket or TB gasket
