Default Si Airbox versus other models.

99-00 Si
17240-P2T-000 CASE SET, AIR CLEANER (#14)
17243-P2T-000 TUBE, AIR IN. (#16)

96-00 EX
17240-P2J-000 CASE SET, AIR CLEANER (#14)
17243-P2J-000 TUBE, AIR IN. (#16)

Anyone know the difference? Everything else is the same, except for the intake tube of course.

The part numbers look the same. Don't think they would need to be different between anything but the Y7 models.

Notice the middle portion, the P2T vs. P2J

If it's one thing I've learned with Honda parts, it's that a different # means SOMEthing different. Unless of course it's the S84 rear brake pads that interchangeable to EVERYthing basically haha.

Nothing? It's probably not even a big difference, I'm just curious.

I think I figured it out at some point, but I can't recall now. I do know I had an EM1 box and arm on my EJ8 and everything worked just fine.

I'll ask Eran later to see if he remembers any difference.

(Oh, and I believe I still have the EM1 airbox around here.)

That doesn't help? Haha. I know the arm is bigger, but I'm interested in the box and / or resonator tube.

If you need me to I can see if I can find the OE EM1 airbox and measure or take for real pics.

I would really appreciate it. I'd believe the inlet / outlet bigger statement, however the seals and everything else are the same...

I thought there was only a spring holding it on?

So you have the EJ8 airbox already?

#17,13 and 2 are all the same between EX / Si - the only real places for a bigger inlet / outlet. I don't know what I currently have, there's only a TT-TD40 stamp on it not the traditional S04 or P2J etc. stampings.

Well, mine says (on the underside of 14/the box itself) MADE IN CANADA. On the right side (when installed in the car) it says upside down 0970C and T. On the front (again, when installed) it says HONDA >PP-TD40<. Inside it says upsidedown 381838.

On the lid it says SIEMENS and CC4. Inside it says 381837.

On the resonator's backside it says HONDA >PP-TD40<.

The hole going off the upper right corner (for the tube) measures about 2 13/16 inches across and 10 1/2 inches around the outside.

The oval seal that goes from he resonator to the box measures about 3 3/8 inches across, 2 3/4 top to bottom on the inside. It's 11 3/8 inches around the outside.

The oval hole on the lid is about 3 1/8 inches across and 2 3/8 tall, 9 3/4 around.

The slightly oval seal on the bottom of the box is about 3 11/6 inches across, 3 3/8 inches wide and 11 7/16 inches around (the widest point of the seal/at the edge).

Those are all approximate and I realized toward the end that my measuring tape has metric on the other side. Oops. lol

Thank you VERY much

Once I compare that information to my EJ8 box, I'll report back to inform others of what possible differences there may be.

As far as I can tell, there is NO difference. All the numbers are the same and dimensions, except for the "0970C and T" which I figure is a production number.
