code 9 cylinder position sensor
Okay so about a month ago my cel came on and I ran the code and it showed code 9 cylinder position sensor. I continued to drive my 2000 lx for a couple more days til it just quit. It would turn over but would not start. I search all the threads I could find on it and majority of the responses were to change the distributor because you couldn't purchase the sensor seperately. I priced all over the internet and a oem new one runs about $350+. Some of the members on here suggested Distributor Kings as an option so I checked them out and purchased one for around $170 shipped. I was really impressed by the quality of it when it came in the mail. I slapped it on my motor and the car runs great. My idle is good and the pickup is good too. The cel light remained on so I pulled the hood back up fuse to reset the ecu but after a day or so of driving, the cel came back on and its showing that same dumb code 9. What should I do guys? I'm running out of idea's. I hope I don't have to dish out the cash for another distributor.

Okay I measured the resistance on the CYP sensor and its right around 400ohms. I found a picture diagram that was posted awhile back. It says to measure the ecm terminals. Is that the terminal that plugs into the ecm meaning the harness or the ecm itself? Too late for me to do now beause its dark out, but i'll try tomorrow. Any other advise would be great. PURPOSE
To determine ignition timing at start-up, position of #1 cylinder for sequential fuel injection, and normal timing for fuel injection and ignition of each cylinder and also detects engine RPM.
OPERATION
The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses these signals to determine fuel injector and ignition timing and to calculate engine RPM.
The Top Dead Center (TDC) sensor signal is used to determine ignition timing at engine start-up. This signal is also used as a backup signal in the event the Cylinder Position (CYP) sensor signal becomes abnormal.
The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor determines timing for fuel injection and ignition timing of each cylinder and detects engine speed.
The Cylinder Position (CYP) sensor generates a signal based on the position of the number #1 cylinder for proper timing of the sequential fuel injection system for all cylinders.
CONSTRUCTION
All three sensors are pickup coil and reluctor construction. The sensors cannot be serviced separately.

okay so I was looking at the obd2 civic ecu pinout courtesy of pherable.net and it shows where terminal b11 and b12 are located. Thats great and all except that b12 is VTS, vtec solenoid and I have sohc non-v motor. That picture diagram I posted earlier was for a GSR. The reason why I used it was because I have a 8 wire distributor. Unfortunaely I don't have some of the wires that need to be checked at the terminals before the ecu. Anyone know what terminals to check on connecter B of the harness for CYP for an lx, dx style harness?

-Just a small update,
I was looking at my new plug wires on the distributor and noticed that they weren't pushed in all the way or all the way tight. So I adjusted them to fit more better last night. This morning I drove the car close to 70 miles, my daily commute, and my cel has not reappeared yet. I'm hoping that was what caused the cel to come back on in the 1st place because the car runs really smooth.

i have this same problem in my 1999 civic si with its original b16... i replaced the dizzy and the car drives but cel code 9 and i cant figure out what the problem is...
