So I have an 89 dx hatch. The old d15b2 motor in it was burning lots of oil and finally one of the cylinders quit on me. No compression - I'm guessing valves.
So I replaced it with a "good" d15b7, which turned out to be no better than the b2 was and also burn oil. I put 12k on that motor and last night, during a 350 mile trip, it started running rough and I found out that the cylinder closest to the cam gear has gone out. Before the motor started running like crap, I was going up some pretty long hills. I had it floored the whole time - keeping it at 75 or so. I have spark, and with the dpfi, I've got to be getting gas if the other cylinders are getting gas. Leads me to believe I burned the valves?? Maybe??
I was hoping that the plug just got fouled and wasn't sparking, and when I pulled the plug out, it was indeed dirty and slightly wet. I was close to a 24 hour wal mart so I got the Autolite Platinum equivalent for it and put it in - no difference.
I also found out that the b2 and b7 used different spark plugs? Which plug should I be using? the b7 plugs or the b2 plugs??
Anyways, I also had a CEL, which I've been getting intermittently for a long time now. I've only checked the code this time though and it's one blink - I have a video of it. I think it's one blink, can anybody confirm?

I tried to get a loaner compression tester today, but someone else had it.
... I do have one more b7 motor that is known to be good, my brother watched it running and heard it before it was taken out of the car. It had no smoke and very little residue in the tail pipe. There was a whine though that matched the revs of the engine. I'm guessing it's the water pump or oil pump?? maybe? Only 72k miles on the motor.
I love my honda, but i hate having to worry about it!

any ideas on what's up with the cylinder not firing? (well there's spark, but the cylinder does not seem to be pushing)
CEL light is O2 sensor. I have attached the FSM in troubleshooting Code 1.
As for the cylinder not firing, since you have spark and obviously fuel going to it, I would bet the cylinder either lost compression, as you said it was burning oil, or maybe the head gasket blew? You really won't know until you can compression test it and the other cylinders for a comparison.
The plug you pulled from that cylinder, does it smell like fuel or water?
