Whirring Sound - Don't Know What Is Happening
The main sound I hear as I hit mid RPMs in my EF is like the sound you get when you put it in first, while you're going somewhat fast. You have the clutch in, and you get that weird screech sound, but, then you start braking to slow down. It's as if I have the clutch in, first gear and slowing down very quickly. That sound, but it's happening all the time, in mid RPMS. My friend told me it may be my brakes or my hub. Or something like that. I'm not sure, and I'm skeptical if anyone is going to be able to help me. It's nothing like rod knock, or anything motor related, because I can have all the pedals out, in neutral and that sound will continue to play. Please, help.
its either your wheel bearings or the bearings in the tranny. check the fluid level. if youve been driving for an extended amt of time like that, the tranny may have to be overhauled.
So, does that mean a new transmission is in order? Or, do I just need to check some things. Because, it's been running like this for 3 days, and my friend told me it's the hub, but, yeah... No fun. Alright, thank you.
your friend could be right, but it's easier to check your fluid level than to check the hub. theres a bearing in the hub on all four corners of the car and any of them could be at fault, but it could also be the transmission so check that. the reason why it probably isnt a misalignment, out of balance wheels, hub, or bent rims is because the whirring will change frequency based on speed, while you report that its just gets more intense with increased speed. this usually points to the powertrain.
Well, this would all make sense, since I hit a curb 3 months ago, causing my front left wheel to have positive camber. I've lifted it in the air, and there is nothing bent that I could see. But, my other friends have convinced me that it is a bent front LCA or, fork. My steering wheel is slightly crooked, and I do need an alignment. I replaced a tie rod end on that same side, but nothing happened, besides straightening the steering wheel a TINY bit. But, none the less, this would explain my rubbing/whirring issue. So, you suggest I just check my transmission fluid and/or attempt to reidentify what is bent in my suspension/wheel assembly.

if the curb was that significant, the bearing in the hub could also have gone too. driving on a bad bearing will drive you insane. but the whirring noise should come and go, not a constant whirl like you described.
does it make the noise when you are stopped? Its probably the dust sheild on the brakes rubbing. Just pry them back with your hands and problem solved.
It doesn't do it when I'm stopped, it only does it when I am moving. It's very distinctive. It's only been around for like, 4 days now. I don't know what to do, and I just made a Honda-Tech account, so I don't know why I can't reply to the guy before you... Anyway, I hit the curb going about 30-35, probably gained MORE speed because I slammed on the brakes, causing me to break traction. But, I've tried to get the car aligned, many times, and they tell me they can't, do to the fact that my front left wheel has positive camber, and the rest have negative.

You see? I don't know who to believe... The guy above me said there is no possible way it could be, and you say it's definitely a possibility. Frustrating.

Sorry, should have been clearer. I was talking about the positive camber. For the whirring sound, it could be a wheel or tranny bearing, dustshield, or caliper. The bent LCA is probably causing this issue by putting undue pressure on something and has led to this.
Alright, thank you soooo much for clarifying, and reasoning the situation. I'll get one very soon. If anything happens, I'll post back here again. It'll be about a week.
