stolen 00 gsr, trying to start her up
So I need someone input some fellow members because I am totally stuck at what to do.
Heres the story, I picked up a crashed (light front end damage) 2000 Integra GSR with 38k original miles. While the car was at the auto-body shop someone tried to steal the car. The attempt was unsuccessful, the ignition was broken, seats where stolen..thats all.
The car has since been sitting in a backyard for close to 2 years.
I picked up the car, changed the battery, replaced the starter, alternator, did a leak down test, manually turned the motor and everything checks out. Here is my problem.
I am getting zero power to anything in the car, (headlights, hi beams and brake lights along with interior lights work) No crank, no dash lighting display, no cluster display, nothing. It seems like the car is dead.
The ignition is still broken, I do have the original 2 keys for the vehicle. I disconnected the ECU and battery hoping it would possibly reset but nothing happened at all.
Should I bring the car to ACURA for them to fix the ignition and reset the ECU/Key?
Any other advice?

We came by our '96 in a similar way. Same kind of damage to the ignition. There are some heavy wires that carry power through the switch. If they shorted anything they may have blown one of the main fuses in the under-hood fuse box.
If you pull the plastic covers, a couple of screws hold the switch on the left hand (as driver faces the wheel) side of the ignition (key goes in on the right...). If they've not screwed things up too much, unscrew the switch and see if you can get the old ignition off. Careful, as there is a small mag sensor that attaches to the ignition near where the key goes in.. a single small screw holds it.
Inspect it all for damage and once that is addressed it shouldn't blow any more fuses. Apply power and see how things look.
In my case, we got a spare column from the wrecking yard that was mostly trashed but the ignition was whole - so I salvaged it. Wasn't as lucky as you to have the keys, so I took the title to the local dealer to get the key code, then went to a good locksmith to get a key made from that code, then had the new ignition keyed to that key, then reinstalled and reconnected the electronics.
All nice and tidy.

I checked all the wires off of the ignition column and there was one wire (a double blue) when I put that to any metal it would activate the beeping noise when the door was open. I am going to order a new wire harness for the ignition column (whatever its called lol) I hope once I install that the car should hopefully crank over.
I checked and double checked the rest of the car, everything looks like it should. I really dont understand why I am getting no light to the cluster or why my windows dont roll up or down..kinda weird...All fuses are there, grounds, etc...
I guess step by step and well shall see how it goes...
What exactly does the immobilizer do? Just put the car in dead mode..lol ??
I thought that it disabled the main relay, which controls the fuel pump. If you have no power elsewhere, I think that you have other issues. Have you checked the battery ground and the underhood fuse box?

I just hope this car doesn't have any water damage from possible being left out to long. Having moisture build up inside the cabin and possibly causing some damage? I am going to recheck all the grounds once again and go from there...I will keep you posted as to what happens.
00 and 01 gsr have the imobilizer thing. chipped key basicaly. Chek all ure fuses. All ure grounds. Chek if all the connections are correct. Make shure youre battery is charged and holds power. Oh and if the imobilizer system wasnt damaged...what ever you call it. GL
then I'm a little lost. my buddie had a 00 gsr with the ignition all beat up and stripped. He also started it with a screw driver. So its only 00 and 01? good thing I'm with obd1.
Did he have the key near the ignition..? I dont know enough about the imobilizer crap to talk about it lo.
Here is an update:
I checked all the fuses under the dash along with the wire harness from the original steering column (key ignition) There was one wire that was ripped in 1/2. I fixed the wire and moved to the fuse box in the engine compartment....
Inside the engine compartment fuse panel...The fuses both the (100 amp for the battery) and the (40 amp for the ignition) apperared to look good from eyeing it up..
I took each fuse and used my test light and tested them.
The 100amp was fine, however the 40amp was no good..off to the parts store and bought a new 40 amp fuse...put the fuse on, and the car started to get full power to lights, windows, locks, sunroof, etc.
The car was cranking, however the green light on the dash with the key was flashing multiple times..I need to bring the car to the ACURA dealership to have reflash the key and hopefully I should be on my way..
Thanks for your help!
