Default Question about replacing Vtec Solenoid Gastket

Im replacing the Vtec solenoid gasket on a B18C1. There is some orange rubbery sealant of some sort that is on the solenoid when i removed it. Its around the edges and in one of the bolt holes. My question is, is this supposed to be there? Im guessing not but i want to make sure. Im replacing both rubber gaskets for the solenoid.

well the facts are; im sure the previous individual who assembled the head used RTV from a local auto parts store. The proper silicon sealant would be hondabond. It hovers above 15 bucks a tube from each (honda)dealership. so its nothing to worry about just clean it off apply the new gaskets and well I would put a light very light coating of hondabond over the gasket before you bolt it to the head. Those 6mm bolts are like 7ft/lbs torque (please check I may be wrong but its a ball park figure) so be careful not to over torque. good luck
