The intermittent wipers on my 91 Civic Si have started working on the initial turn on of the switch but not again after the first swipe. Do any of you have any ideas where I should start my search to fix them? They work fine on the 2 regular settings.

I have the same problem and suspect it is something called the Integrated Control Unit. It controls the wiper relay as well as the flashers, seatbelt, key on and brake warnings. It is located under the dash. The dealer doesn't sell them anymore. I think it is like the main relay were a re-soldering job may solve the problem.

yeah thats the icu. Change it out. Mine was bad with the same problem. Tho I had bad wiring and had now wipers at all.

 

I wasnt aware EF's had an ICU,I know DA's do.Just replace the capacitors that are known to leak,cheap and easy fix as long as the circuit paths havent been eaten away by the leaky caps.See the link for details:

It happens to me too. I turn my wipers on all the way, let'em go crazy for a little while and then turn it back to inter and it usally works lol
