You check your wiring? Check the plugs to see if its corroded? Could be the cluster. ECU could be a possibility. Check all the fuses?

first of all if the cluster is bad and you knew that why did u waste money on a vss and not buy a working cluster?

you could have just had a friend help you out and switch your vss to his car to see if it works instead of buying a new one. do you know whats wrong with your cluster?

Check for corrosion on the engine harness side of the connector. Check the wiring also.

never heard of a bad cluster throwing a CEL, but does your VTEC engage? cuz if it does then your vss is working properly and its just your cluster that needs to be replaced. why do i ask if VTEC engages because VTEC requires a signal from your vss to function properly among others. if it doesnt then theres corrosion at the connector or you have a broken wire or a loose pin in the system.

i dont have anyone who has a vss for a honda. all my friends are nissan fanboys... other wise i would of. And yes my vtec does engage. so that must mean theres a short somewhere right? and is there a way to directly wire the vss to the ecu and if so how bad would that be or would it make no difference.

^Cluster could have been intermittent, wiring to the VSS could have finally worn down or shorted somewhere, causing the ECU to assume it was the VSS. Not trying to be mean, but you wasted money buying the wrong part when you obviously knew another piece in the circuit was bad.

greeting from the integra section. lol

i seem to have the same problem on my 1990 integra. everything in my cluster works fine. the sensor seems to be working fine and since my car is kinda old i dont think there is a plug that goes to the speed sensor. could there be any other reason as to why it could be throwin that code?
or should i just reset the ecu?

^Find a friend and swap cluster and VSS real quick to see which one acts up. If neither, check your wiring.
