Default Bumper mounting hole fix

So the driver side of my bumper ripped off when leaving my in-laws driveway. The hole was srtipped and a simple nut and washer wont do anymore. Ive tried zip ties int he past but they alway come undone. SO here is what i did. (this was done on an EG, im sure it will work on others models)

Here is the hole.

took an old piece sheet metal and cut it to shape.
frontback

Test fit

Drilled holes for rivets and used some 3m automotive double sided tape to hold while i drilled the holes.

Here it is reinstalled.

What do you think? Is there a better way to do it?

I've used 3M 8115 to make new bumper clips, and most of the time it works perfectly fine.

Cool... that stuff costs a pretty penny.. Ill probably use it for reinforcement to the rivets.

Very nice. The other pics dont work. I may have to get a riveter to do this. My hole is broken as well. lol.

Edit: Did you have to drill holes threw the bumper and the sheet metal to install the rivets?

Yea i had to drill through both just enough to fit the rivet through.. And i also put a bead of adhesive on the rivetcause it didnt go all the way through the bumper.. It went like 3/4" but i wanted tto be sure.

I thought about using sheet metal on top and bottom but i was afraid it would create to much of a gap in between the fender and bumper. At least we had the same idea just slightly different.
