Default JDM D15B, give me your opinion PLEASE!

So, I'm looking into getting a JDM D15B into my 91 dx hb. But I've been reading that there is alot of rare parts for it. P2j ecu that's manual is ultra rare as from what i've seen.

So question is, what're you running as far as OBD, engine wire harness, ecu, etc...?

As i've read, you can just use your stock DX wire harness and just add the VTEC wires
Or
D16z6
or
get something from Monotech.

LMK y'alls input please!

YAY or NAY!?!?!!?!?

I've had mine installed for almost 2 years now. I use an SI cable transmission with an HF 5th gear set, 7 lb flywheel, and an Exedy clutch. Rywire did my OBD1 conversion harness and I use TD42U distributor. I was using a P08 ECU until I installed a Jackson Racing Supercharger last month, now I use a P28 ECU with Hondata S300 installed. I have been impressed with the engine since I installed it, it runs great, gets the same mileage I was getting with my D15B2(about 38-40 MPG), but alot more fun to drive. With about 9 lbs of boost from the charger, it's really fun to drive and the mileage has dropped to about 35-37 MPG with some "spirited driving".
Some parts for them are a little harder to find but not bad, timing belt, waterpump, tensioner and most block parts are from a Civic VX(Z1), most head parts are interchangable with a Civic SI or EX(Z6). Most people run them with a P28 ECU and say they just run a little rich, some people run with a P08 basemap chip in a P28 ECU.

ive had the d15b for over 3 years now in my 90 si. im using my original Si transmission clutchmasters 11lbs flywheel, centerforce stage2 clutch, skunk2 intakemanifold w/hondata intake gasket, stock airbox with k&n filter, original Si harness W/ www.rywire.com 0bd0 to obd1 conversion harness, P28 ecu. and i get around 35 MPG around these country roads to and from work. over all ive been happy with it, good for the curves but by no means for straight lines!

This engine is similer to the D16Z6 found in the Civic SI and the Civic EX. It's a VTEC and has ~130 HP.

I see. Thanks for all the HO's and facts.

So basically I'm gonna need a lot more patience with dropping in this engine right?

I've read most people go for the D15B over the D16z6, but the D16z6 is a lot more easier to find and get parts for as it is USDM. As for the the D15B, well idk what turns people on for this engine. Seems like a PITA but I'm just seeing what I'm getting myself into.

So in essence, get a wire harness from monotech or rywire. Get a jump harness, and a p28 or p08 and just swap out my d15b2?(Already converted to MPFI 2 weeks ago)

The reason I went for this engine was because I got it, a transmission, ECU and all of the parts I wanted to remove from a wrecked CRX for $100. Kind of hard to turn that down and in the end it really impressed me.

Well, let's say i throw out my old harness and use the p28 and the harnesses it came with. Will it just be a straight swap? Nothing i need to change?

I have a a6 IM can i just take off the one from te D15B and put the a6 one on there? the one from the D is missing injectors and the fuel rail.

no..an obd1 harness wont work with your chassis. dont even try it. theres enough hack job hondas as there is. use your obd0 harness and depin plugs and add wires easy!!
