Need to change head gasket soon and I'm wondering if it's ok to reuse the oem headstuds. Car has 140,000 miles and I'm having a little trouble finding arp headstuds. I hear some people say it's ok to reuse oem ones and some say it's not. So which is it? Thanks
if the d17 is like the old D series engines, then the head bolts are not the stretch type and can be reused. just make sure you clean them and add oil to the threads before reinstalling. also, i think the manual says that if you hear any creaking sounds when tightening, you need to remove the bolts then re-do the entire torquing sequence.
i've reused them on a d16a6 but that's because the car was a beater and i couldn't be bothered to pay another $100 for a set of head bolts.

95LSv: The manual does not mention replacing the head bolts, so I'm assuming it's safe to reuse them. (although, personally, I'd just buy new ones)
