Has anyone broken their stub axle? It looks like it may have cracked and then was twisted off. D side AT axle(long). The only way I could think this broke was due to the axle allowed to hang off the hub when the original transmission was replaced. When I replaced that transmission, I supported it with tie wire off the intake manifold brace.

Anyone else experience such a failure, not related to hard launches. I was most surprised at how thin the metal was where the stub attaches to the outside cup.
