87 crx si- loose steering after new tie rods?
replaced the inner and outter tie rods on driver and passenger side and now the steering is almost power steering like. however if i hit the tiniest bump in the road im all over the place. the wheels move when i turn the steering wheel the slightest bit so its not like theres a dead spot. this is driving me nuts and nowhere at the same time. HELP!!!
Screw you guys, I'm... going... home.

Either you left something loose, or one of the new tie rods is bad right out of the box, or your alignment is now waaay off. Did you have it aligned after, and do you know what your toe-in is set at right now?
no alignment yet. ive replaced tie rods on various cars in the past(02 sebring, 92 civic, 88 crx) never anythin this bad afterward. everything seemed fine new parts wise. with the old rods the steering was hard but the boots were shot on the outters so i figured screw it i'll replace all of it. i dont have alignment tools so what i do is set the steering wheel straight and use a right angle and tape measure to ensure the rotors are straight and adjust the ends from there. never failed til now. i know the tie rods are all tight so i know those arent loose. could the old bad rods been hiding a problem in the rack and pinion? bad ball joints maybe? im just trying to spend as little money as possible since im moving from cincinnati ohio to johnstown pennsylvania but also trying to get it fixed as quickly as possible.
maybe check the u-joint where the steering column connects to the rack? one of the bolt on the u-joint was loose on my 92 civic and the steering was loose.

got the alignment done and it still has slight play but compared to before vary minimal. now that im finally close to being settled in pa hopefully i can find some work and get everythin else replaced suspension and steering wise and get rid of all the ugly vacuum lines. i could definitly use a link for a "how to" on that. i do believe night wins with the correct advice on this one tho. thanks everyone.
